  • alnico/bobbin dimensions from strat pickups?

Does anyone know what the individual alnico magnets height measurements were for the 54 stagger and the 56-59 stagger? Also what was the internal dimension between the flatwork?

I don't have anything verifiable on the '56-'59 pickups, but here is some information on the '54 strat pickups. This information is originally from Seymour Duncan, and was quoted from him in Donald Brosnac's book "Guitar Electronics for Musicians" p.27-28. Magnet Lengths (.192 dia) E 6th .684, A 5th .687, D 4th .717, G 3rd .718, B 2nd .636, E 1st .657. The dimension between the flatworks is not given but can be calculated. Overall total depth of pickup is given as .718 top to bottom and the top flatwork is .064 and the bottom flatwork is .097 which would be .557 between them unless the total depth measurement is counting the covers or magnets. -sw

p.s. Come to think of it the internal dimension couldn't have been more than .475 since the .718 total depth is the same as the tallest magnet. .475 would put the b string magnet flush with the top of the forbon. -sw
