I have a SWR LA 15 Bass amp that has been working fine for the last 6 years. Recently, when I turn the volume up any more than a quarter of the way it makes some odd noises. It kind of cuts out and pops. It doesn't really distort at all though. I have tried more than one bass in this amp and I get the same problem. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

It might be popping into oscillation. Scope the output to see what it looks like.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned. -
I dont really have any way to scope the output. the most advanced tool that I have is a high-end multimeter.Comment

I think it's more likely the volume pot has got dirty or worn out. It usually wears out quite fast since it's the most-twiddled. Does moving the volume knob slightly bring on an attack of the popping and crackling?"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis?
