  • Recommend 10" speaker...?

I have a 5F6A clone (KT66 power tubes) in a 2x10 cab loaded with older Celestion Vintage 10 speakers. I'm hearing an annoying strong upper midrange character that I can't dial it out with the amp's EQ controls, and it's there with both humbucker and single-coil pickup guitars. It's sort of like I have a tube screamer on all the time. I'm thinking it must be the speakers. I'd like to replace one of the speakers with something with less midrange emphasis....something in 16 ohms and around 40-60 watts handling to compliment one of the V10's. I would appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

Those vintage 10s do not work for me at all. So far, my favorite 10s are weber 10a125 35 watters. Loud, clear and sweet. I'll soon be testing out others in tweed and BF amps:

-- Emi Legend 105 ceramics. Have heard this in a 15", liked it.
-- Emi copperheads. My amp tech raves about these.

Another interesting 10" is the Kendrick BF. Can be a little shrill in the wrong amp, totally beautiful in the right one.
