In my design I'm switching power tubes via the cathodes. They are cathode bias. I have a large resistor in series w/ Rk and Rc which I'm bypassing via a switch to turn them on/off. I also have the filament center tap DC referenced at the cathodes. Now if the 10k series resistor is in play and the tubes are off the voltage on the cathodes will be far higher than the 32v they are at when on. My question is: Is there a max voltage for a DC referenced filament center tap? My thoughts are no, but I'm not really sure.

In JJ's ECC83S tube data sheet, they spec the max U k/f voltage at 180v.

So I would say that yes, there is a max, and it depends on the tube.-Mike -
