  • 5E3 cathode resistor power and screen resistor

    Hi everybody, i'm new here.

I'm building 5E3 and have some questions.

    Someone put 1k5 2w cathode resistor, someone 1/2w, 2w really necessary ?

Tube-depot put 470 2w screen grid resistor on 6V6, stock 5E3 have no screen grid resistor, what the goal of this resistors ?

Now for the cabinet building, it seems that the HP panel it's just fixed with 4 screws and left and right side are free to move, i'm ok or not ?

    Thank you.

Excuse me for my Tarzan english. Kind regards.

"Someone put 1k5 2w cathode resistor, someone 1/2w, 2w really necessary ?" For the preamp tubes 1/2W cathode resistors are fine.

470screen grid resistors - better reliability, lots of respected tweed builders use the 470ohm screen grid resistors.

HP panel? You mean the baffle board? This is called "floating" and is free to move at the sides. It was a feature of the tweed era amps.

      Thank you !

For the 1K5 a talk about the 6V6 cathode resistor, so 2W ?

Yes i mean baffle board, thank you.

I notice that on some baffle board, we can't see grill cloth staples behind the board, how to do that ?

      Regards.

Cathode resistor for the 6V6 should be 250-270ohms, use 5W resistor and a 50v bypass cap.

I think you might mean the 1.5K grid stopper resistor located between pins 6 & 5? 1/2W is fine for this part.

          1.5K grid stopper resistor

Sorry, yes it's about the 1.5K grid stopper resistor, Thank you.
