  • Wood filler recommendation?

I need some wood filler that can cover large gaps and be sanded down. I am restoring a 1972 Fender Twin whose cabinet has been butchered. Thanks!

    Elmer's Wood Filler

I have used Elmer's Carpenters Wood Filler in the past.
    Got it at Lowes.
    3.25 fl oz tube.
The trick is to give the filler something to wrap around.
It does not adhere well to particle board. The board is too crumbly.
Patience is the key. Thin layers, let them dry.

      Durham's

Durham's has worked very well for me. You mix it yourself with water. It is non-toxic and sands really well. It also works well when you have fairly large areas to fill. It is inexpensive to boot.

I use bondo for anything big I have to fill. It sands the easiest, and sets the fastest.

Old style...sawdust / glue, mix, apply.

+1 on the body filler! Also doesn't shrink as much as the wood filler.

              durham's

Durham's rock hard water putty, or equivalent is available at most hardware stores/ home centers. Works great. Mix with water to whatever consistency you need, from soupy to thick paste.
