  • Bogen PH10 + vox tonelab

Recently got a Bogen PH10 pp 6v6 mono power amp and was thinking about using an old Vox Tonelab table top modeller as the preamp. Any problems or issues to be aware of or consider? Planning to do a 3 prong cord, fuse and 1/4 inch jacks for input and 8 ohm speaker. And was wondering about what it would take and if worth the effort to change the tone switch to a regular tone pot? Much thanks.

I tried to connect Vox Tonelab ST to push-pull 2x6V6 valve power amp (Fender Deluxe Reverb copy). It works, it doesn't sound bad (but not so good as really all tube guitar amp), but it seems Tonelab output level is to low to drive power amp properly to get higher loudness for playing in band.

For the past year, just been plugging little pedal board right in...mxr classic od, aya drivesta, mxr m108, boss tr2, and mxr carbon copy....however before was using the tonelab desktop along with a tc nova reverb and delay and it sounded good...kind of hifi-ish and pristine digital...great for ambient but decided to go for analoge warmth of the pedal board. It goes from warm cleans to killer distortion/feedback...ala NY/Crazy Horse, Govt Mule. Its not particularily loud but will shake and rattle the house using a 2x12.
