1950's vintage Strat pickups with short G poles

Greetings,

A question regarding "unusual" vintage Strat pickups:

Does any know of, or seen 1950's era vintage Strat pickups with short G poles?
The usual "vintage stagger" that I am familiar with has the B pole lowest, tallest are the G & D poles, and the high/low E and A are midway in between.

A closeup picture of a 1958-vintage Strat surfaced that shows three pickups with G poles being the lowest, almost as if they were pushed in. Someone told me he seen a '55 Strat with the same kind of pickups.

Further ideas or thoughts about the rationale behind these pickups would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe they were pushed in at some point. A plain G string has a lot more output than a fifties-correct wound G. The mod would make sense to get a better balance across the strings with a modern set of strings and an unwound G. I've also known players who pushed in the tall poles because they interfered with their picking.
