  • Ampeg vintage svt help - need replacement hum control pot

Anybody know what the wattage is on the 100ohm wire-wound hum control In an original Ampeg SVT? Anyone replaced these before with a particular aftermarket part? Got one on the bench and the pot is burned out. Google searches have been unsuccessful so far. I know I can get one from FLIPTOPS but I'd still like to know what the actual specs are. Thanks.

It is a pot across 6.3VAC. volts squared over resistance will tell you the power it dissipates. I get about 0.4 watts. SO a 2 watt or larger pot will be fine. If I didn;t have an official Ampeg one, I'd probably grab a Fender one, since it was wired to exactly the same voltage, and doing exactly the same job.

For example stock R-V5W-100L , at Antique Electronic Supply
