  • Has anyone every dropped and dented a transformer on the corner??

Hello, I bought a transformer online and it arrived with the corner bent. The metal tangs for the windings are all in tact and seem ok. But I am wondering if having the corner bent is going to cause me problems when I install it down the road. The dent is on one corner, and it is dented probably 1/32" on one corner. I am sure it got dropped on its corner during shipping. Around 5-6 plates in, there is a slight seperation of the plates (millimeters). Cause for concern?

    Thank you for any feedback.

I have had transformers where the lams were worse that that, an they are still fine many years later. However, if this is something you purchased on line, and it was damaged during shipping; there is no need to hypothesize about potential damage, just file a claim. If the seller says it was in "new" condition when it was shipped, the insurance will buy a new tranny.
What kind of a packing job did the seller do that the tranny could get dented like that? That thing should have had 2-3 inches of bubble wrap around it. It really should not have been able to sustain that much damage....
    Good Luck

      Thanks you for the feedback

I bought it at a pretty decent price as a backup for my amp. I think when it left the sellers place it was probably wrapped pretty well. It came in a 7-8" square box and had probably a foot and a half to maybe 2' of bubble wrap around it. By the time it got here and had been tossed by the postal service most of all the bubbles were popped. I bought it on ebay, I would have to pay shipping back across the country, it cost 15-18 dollars for shipping. The seller has quite a few sales and has a 100% rating, if it wasn't anything to worry about I thought I would just keep it, but if it has damage that may effect tone, I will try to contact hiim for a refund? So I thought I would run it past this forum to see if it was any big deal or not. Thanks again for your input
