  • Ampeg Echo Twin ET-1. speaker driven reverb?

I am looking at trading some things to get a 60's ampeg echo twin ET-1 with the 6v6 and tube rectifiers. I understand there are a couple different makes with different tubes.

I have read somewhere that this amp doesn't use tube driven reverb like the other amps I've played. Some one said it uses speaker driven reverb...

what is that? I looked it up but couldn't find anything. Hopefully it is not the same as capacitor driven reverb as I understand that sounds pretty bad.

I tried the amp out and I can't seem to get the reverb to kick in. If I hit the pan I get some reverby sounds like you would expect, but I can't get the guitar to drive the pan at all. If I do end up buying it, I will take the amp out, measure the ohmage, and check the connections.

Is it possible it's just a tube that is not allowing the input to drive the reverb tank?

and has anyone had experience with this amp?

    thanks in advance.
