EH POG and Midi?

So i bought a POG (the big one) yesterday and being an electronics freak i couldn't help but open it up and see whats goin on. Well when i opened it i noticed that theres a section of the board thats not used that says midi on it. So could this pedal actually use midi if the circuit is finished? not that i really would make it run on midi ha ha just curious on why they would put if there if you couldn't do midi with it.

Many of the digital EHX pedals use the same DSP core, and either add or omit features. Of course, there is a difference between simply tacking on more "stuff" and preparing the digital circuitry for the arrival of that stuff.
