  • Peavey 5150 head won't power on!

I came to band practice today and plugged in my peavey 5150 head to rehearse for an upcoming show and it would not power on at all. the power and the standby lights would not light up. my ibanez tube screamer was lighting up and though it has a battery it usually won't power on unless both the input and output cables are in. the amp hadn't been used since last tuesday for practice and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. it powered up just fine and performed good as usual. today, however, nothing.

do you guys think it would be a blown fuse, tubes, power cable or what? there is a 5A fuse on the back side of the amp. could that do it?

Check the fuse first. If thats blown, you prob'ly have a bad output tube. If the fuse is ok, check the solder joints on the terminal strip that the pwr cable connects to....I've seen them crack loose and cause the amp to be dead in the water.

        Yup.
        Output tubes are the 6L6's.
