      What he said.

      SOmetimes, ina tube amp, if the input stage grid connects directly to the input jack, due to grid leak action, a very small voltage may develop. Then you get the situation where "this amp makes my guitar volume control scratchy."
      Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
