  • Silvertone 1470 restoration

    Greetings all,

I just picked up a silvertone 1470. The tubes are there, OT is there, T2 is gone and the innards are completely gone.

The original schematic was in the cabinet and is shown here:

I will need to source a proper PT at a minimum. I don't know if the tubes actually work.

I would like to know what you think about restoring this amp so it could be operated safely using something close to the original design. I could build something else in the chasis, but I'd kinda like to restore it - and be safe about it.

There never was a power transformer in this amp.
It ran off of the line voltage (eeks)
Unless you want to put in an isolation transformer(110V to 110V), your best bet would be to gut it & build something safe.

      Thanks for the reply.

yeah, I see that - the line voltage going right into the rectifier. That's why I was saying I needed to source a PT... but probably should have expanded on that!

I kind of do want to restore it to the original design... but safely.

I guess I'm open to suggestions as to what else to build in there - I'd like something simple and in the 2w5-5w range.

        You could put it back.
Again, you will need an isolation transformer.

          Yep, 120v/120v isolation transformer.
