Here's another Version of "Hey Joe".
It is a Cover by the Late Great Alvin Lee, of Ten Years After.
He Passed a couple of months back.
IMO it's got some pretty good Guitar in it!

Alvin Lee most certainly loved performing & playing guitar.
    Cool post. Thanks.
What's up with that double necked bass guitar?

I did a double take on the Bass also.
It looks like a long scale and a short scale, both 4 strings, and the pickups look similar.

Slightly "off topic". It's not a released cover, but nonetheless a cover. It's been around awhile, but still cracks me up.

Cheap Trick - Don't Be Cruel

Don't Be Cruel is special to me.

The wife and I got married in Las Vegas at the drive-through chapel. Little White Chapel. I paid the extra for Elvis to sing. In fact Elvis cost more than the wedding itself. We decided Don't Be Cruel would be the song to sing. Why not? SO the guy was standing there three feet in front of us singing right to our faces. The wife is still impressed with me.

And I have to like Cheap Trick, good old fashioned rock and roll. And Rick Nielsen with the hat always makes me think of Huntz Hall. Sorry about that, Rick.

I've got a GREAT Rick Nielsen story involving repairing one of his amps one time. I just can't tell it here.

I can't explain why, but post #77 reminded me of the Devo disc.
It may not be great, but it is novel- what other band has done Muzak cover versions of their own songs?

Maybe the Beatles in the Magical Mystery Tour movie?
I vaguely remember one song played on a carousel calliope, and another in "101 Strings Orchestra" style during a comic-romantic scene on the beach...

    EDIT:
    Wikipedia to the rescue:
She Loves You on "fairground organ" and an orchestrated version of "All My Loving".
Haven't found YouTube clips, other than one of the entire film.

Here's a pretty good version of the "The Weight", by the Band.
This version is done by the Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers.

My fave The Band tune was always Chest Fever. The grinding organ gets me.

Here is a cover Levon Helm and Warren Haynes.

I always liked Johnny Winter's version of Jumpin Jack flash better than anyone else I heard. Peter Frampton did a pretty good job of it too on a live album somewhere along the line if I remember correctly.

JJ Cale wrote Magnolia, then the group Poco did a fabulous job of it on their Crazy Eyes album I think it was. Poco - Magnolia.wmv - YouTube

JJ also wrote after Midnight, the most popular version was probably done by Clapton. They both got together and did it at the Crossroads festival - Eric Clapton/JJ Cale-After Midnight - YouTube

Here's Clapton's remake of it later on, my favorite version by far After Midnight in STEREO - Eric Clapton 1987 version - YouTube

I forgot yesterday, one of my all time favorite cover tunes, Roy Buchannan's version of Green Onions. Sorry but it just makes Booker T's version look lame...

This came up on my mp3 player while I was cutting the grass today
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypv1lZlW1WY The Searchers Needles and Pins. (one of my favorite songs since about 1965) It made me think of this thread because of the Ramones cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGWR3uI3Qa0 which I don't like as much. I just found out that it was originally recorded by Jackie De Shannon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSbM_Zmx9kA and also covered by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bio-2wiMmnw

Here's a cover I like: The Sonics - Dirty robber. Not sure but I think the original version was recorded by a band called The Wailers. My band has covered this tube for quite some years now.

How they picked this one to cover is beyond me. They actually have musicians on stage with them! The main "performer" cracks me up every time.

Something twee (sorry, no hot lead guitar)...

The Towson University radio station WTMD has a weekday feature called "Five O'clock Shadow",
when they play an old hit song followed by a cover version.

Last Thursday's hit was Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer."
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh4nVj8g4hg

It was followed by a version by KT Tunstall.
Stripped-down arrangement, but not quite "unplugged".
Unfortunately, I can't find it on YT.
It was similar to this- but a cleaner studio version with (overdubbed?) "country sister harmonies" on the chorus.

Here's a solo version with fingerpicked guitar
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcNNNnjMOjk

I often have trouble hearing lyrics, especially when the arrangements are highly orchestrated-
maybe because I have a "4KHz notch" in my hearing; maybe because I still listen to music on crappy little radios!
So I really appreciated being able to understand all the words, even coming out of the bookshelf kitchen radio.
Oh well, guess you had to be there.
