Well old Bill sure got that one taken down in a hurry.
I was going to post his version of Hawkwind's 'Silver Machine' featuring Wayne Kramer and Carmine Appice, but I found this James Last & Orch. version that I liked better. I think the guitar player was pretty happy to get to rock out around the 1:15 mark.

and my apologies. This isn't worth starting a new thread and for lack of a better place to put it........

So, I'm streaming "70's One Hit Wonders" on YouTube at work today. This video comes on. I got a rather good laugh out of the fact that there are 2 drummers in the video. If you listen, you'll see what I mean.

Never heard of this band First Aid Kit before - but they've got this bang up cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill." Live from the sheep field in Werchter Belgium. I've been there - 30 years ago with Bowie. Move them sheep aside Clem, we got a rock concert to do! Baaaa-haaaah...

One more for today, the always fantastic Warren Zevon does a "baritone" cover of Steve Winwood's pop hit "Back In The High Life." I don't think Warren was aware at this point about his terminal condition, which adds to the poignancy of his interpretation.

Always remember and never forget Warren's sage advice: enjoy every sandwich.

Here's Paul Anka doing his version of Teen Spirit.
I don't like it much, but its weirder than Weird Al.

This one is more parody than cover but still lots of fun:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1iZMS5aXj0

They have a whole channel full of stuff just like it below:
    https://www.youtube.com/user/barelypolitical
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0bU...E09B75A3E1AD57

This parody stuff was real big with millennials but it seems to have fizzled out.

I have to admit that the "Tribute to Ridiculous Voices" is pretty amusing.

It must be a challenge to parody music that already borders on self-parody, like this vid by Carly Rae Jepsen.

Ironically, the tune has spawned some interesting instrumental covers, mostly by Asian acoustic guitarists. I've previously posted about this- so won't bore you-all again.

Pure pop confection - this makes my teeth hurt! But I'll take a few minutes off to ogle a cutie like Carly Rae. And the surprise ending is a howler. Not that there's anything wrong with that... DOH!

Poor Carly - here's my number Miss Jepsen. Let's go bowling, I'll buy you a ginger ale.

Well since we're discussing pop confection... Who could forget this one? WAY better than the original. Still the same pop crap as before, but much better tones and artistic considerations on the groove. Oh, and there's a pretty girl for Leo to look at too.

To quote another pop confection: "oh baby, you know what I like!" Well, it doesn't hurt to look, right? Inspirational! Is that a Gretsch White Falcon? Kool! Dig the no-snare drum kit too, and low budget color-keying production. Those were the days...

My dad says Carlie Rae looks like Barbie Benton. I guess he had a thing for her back in the day. They did a parody of that tune. Have a look:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTthJI0rDnk

In my experience, hillbilly girls don't usually look that good, they look more like 'Carly' in the parody. Let me know what you think. I think the funniest one they ever did was Foster the People's "pumped up kicks" but everyone I know has their own favorite. Check out that one below:

In my view she [EDIT: Replace "she" with "Carly Rae"] looks a bit like Carly Simon... same impossibly wide mouth. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

for those that don't know. Carly Simon was a goddess but other than the name, I don't see as much in common. Judge for yourself.

What if you cover your own tune? In this case, at very deliberate tempo, with extreme dynamic range and a whole lotta feeling. A couple weeks ago Lindsey Buckingham appeared on "Live From Here" the successor to Prairie Home Companion. I was knocked out by his rendition of Never Going Back Again, and lookee here, it just turned up on YouseTube. Performed at about half speed, and at one point he practically makes time come to a complete stop. Thought some people here might like it. Enjoy folks, and I'll just have to accept whatever slagging I may get for what's officially not really a cover.

Pretty sure he was referring to the Barbi Benton reference. Carlie looks a lot like Carly but not so much like Barbi.

I can't believe I just wrote that last sentence. Do I look stupid? I feel stupid.

Yes, but which of the three looks most like Lindsey Buckingham?
(BTW, the interwebs say they're both spelled "Carly". That is, except the one spelled "Barbi".)

I am blown away by this guitarist! I've heard lots of flashy kids that are fast but this youngin' has groove AND expression. Thanks for introducing him to me. This is an awesome thread, what is amazing is the variety of interpretation. Most of it very good. Some I wish I never heard, like that pretentious Teale guy reciting a Led Zep classic. Otherwise, it's hours of fun here.

Hmm, when I punch on it in order to pop it into my photo program for alteration, it shows me: avatar34286_1.gif . Is there something I'm missing? I'll admit to being no sort of computer wiz.

Edit: OK, here ya go. Gave it the Shepard Farey treatment while I was at it. How ya like that?

Kool, earned a thumbsup before half way through. Carbon fiber instruments too - I've dealt with Rainsong guitars but until now haven't seen other string instruments done that way. One guy losing the hair off his bow - well he could have switched bows in multiple video takes - but it does support the intensity. Good one Chuck!

These guys have a lot of pop/rock covers. Classical as well. Their live stuff is great. When my wife first put me onto them I thought they were just pretty boys with a gimmick. But then I watched their live stuff and realized they were serious.
