Hi Guys:
I have an Ampeg VH-140C that intermittently makes a loud rat-tat-tat noise thru the speakers on high gain channel A. I have checked the board for loose connections and bad solder but can find nothing. The amp also seems to have an abnormally high level of hiss on the high gain channel which can be lowered or raised through the volume and gain pots. I have not been able to make the rat-tat-tat noise appear even after having the amp on for 3 hours straight although the owner says it starts after 45 minutes at his house. Then, when he shuts off the amp briefly, after only a minute or so. That makes it sound like it's heat related but, of course, I have not been able to duplicate the results when I have the amp on at my house to trace the problem so I'm rather frustrated. Has anyone out there run across this problem?
