Looks like there is PE and PE. Colors seem to vary from one manufacturer to the other. The small snipplet comes from a CS Nocaster neck PU and shows a darker purple than the bigger portion of wire from a SD STR-1 neck PU, which appears to be more of a brown purplish tan.
