What do you guys know about the "Rosie Wrap" early 50s winding style?

was there a lady named Rosie who hit the magic formula
with a "yarn ball" winding pattern in 1952?

have you heard this style of tele pickup and if so how did it sound to you?

    (please do not attack anyone!)

It's a complete load of rubbish. In fact Don Mare probably believes it's true which would explain why he talks about his Roy Wrap, Tortilla Wrap, Fat Wrap , Street Wrap....the list is endless.

Hey, maybe Rosie sent her Rosie Wrap to Nacho Banos for approval......

              truth or fiction....

Don't believe pickup makers who tell you they have some "magic" winding pattern or formula, he isn't doing anything different than the rest, this B.S. about a "ball of yarn" coil is just alot of words. You can wind pickups with alot of crazy winding patterns, some will have some effect but ultimately a coil will want to do what it wants to do which is defined by number of turns, what metal its wound around and how much space it occupies and what wire guage. You can only have so much control and no more, "magic" winding patterns don't exist.

Alot of those ladies were doing that kind of coil because they were used to using sewing machines, there is nothing magic about that shape at all, its common to find that shape on other coils besides pickups from back then, most automatic machines by default will wind that shape coil. If you like how it sounds buy one....

Don Mare and his Rosie wrap, whatever, he would have the whole damn world beleive he is winding different than every other maker out their and has a special unknown formula, made by a woman he doesnt even know, the way he talks is like he slept with her and even Roy B, well actually he thinks he is Roy B. Again theirs that BS hype again, he gets it going by his own forum and spews that shit till everyone beleives it. I have heard his Roy wrap and when I got it to hear I wasnt about the hype so to me it sounded like a decent Tele, nothing more, actually there are a lot of guys here who I have heard their tele stuff and it stomps his....

I completely agree, Possum. The laws of Physics have the last say, and there's only so much you can do to alter the tone content of any pickup.

                      hey!!

Now wait a Minute!! All this fuss about turns per layer yadda yadda. That is a specific wind pattern, with small, but noticable results.
You can make some interesting patterns with noticable differences 'Special Winding Technics" .
Truth be told here and Now- There is a Rosie wrap. Just fall asleep at your winder and wala!!!
Was'nt don mare using the "redhouse id here? Got screwed in tha butt with eyes rolling in the back of his head over some 42 Double Build solderon. Saved like $10 for a used roll. The dude at BurgerKing Pickups in England....all his stuff is magic winds too....

                          BREAD:
Nacho chops and salsa on tables and at bar

                          SALAD:

                          ENTREE:
Rosie's Wrap ($6.95) 2 large soft tortilla wraps with chicken, tomato, bacon, lettuce, avocado, salsa mayonnaise, served with excellent French Fries with the skin left on and lightly salted - excellent

Vegetable Fajita ($8.95) Served on a sizzling platter, lots of veggies - very good

Chicken Fajita ($9.95) Same as above but with less veggies, low fat sour cream selected, guacamole nicely flavored - very good

                          DESSERT:

                          OTHER:
Full of students when college is in session

Margaritas at the bar are made from a mix and are poured from a large vat - much too sweet

Television at the bar has captions

Restaurant and bar are very noisy

                          Cleanliness not a strength

Very crowded on a Saturday night - 45 minute wait

Has decorations (dusty ones) on the ceiling

                          OVERALL:
B (a bustling, funky restaurant that is fun and has pretty good food)

Sounds like a better deal than anything Don Mare can cook up

                            no special pattern???

so there is no special winding pattern?
can you explain why his pickups get rave reviews from everyone?
i have not read one review where a person was not in love with his
pickup. some of these reviews indictated that the person already had
tele pickups from people well known on this forum and they like the rosie
wind better. on the tele forum one person after another stated they loved
his pickups. on the "gear page" other people liked his pickups.
                            also the "les paul forum".

people are loving this guys pickups

                            whats the deal?
