  • Rectifier Tube Question...

Now that my Humm problem is solved on my slightly Modded Champ...

Triode Champ Amp Kit with 15W upgrade Output Transformer to run a 6L6GC, Choke, Separate On-Off Switch, Weber 4ohm speaker...

    2 Questions...

    1) Should I use a GZ34 w/ the 6L6, or stick with the 5Y3... Or does it make any difference?

    2) Is there any particular position, (in relation to the two other Transformers) I should mount my Choke, or does it matter?

Thanks for all you guys help on my Humm Problem...

Well the gz34 will raise the voltage on the plate quite a bit. That would change the bias condition. Just plug one in and check your bias. If bias is good then no problems. The amp should be a little tighter with a little more headroom.
