I would not think it should get hot.
Unless the lcd is really bad & pulling current from it.

      Hi Jazz,

Could i Replace the LCD with the same specs 240 x 64 but that has a T6963C controller? Would it work?

I am not about to look up the datasheet for a T6963C.
So I do not know if it will work 'correctly'.
But I will say that the controller IC is what 'IS" the display.
The characters that are diplayed come from the controller ic.
If anything about the two is different, then the display will be different.

Earlier the T6A39 was mentioned. This is a LCD column driver chip and it is usually used along with the T6A40 row driver and T6963C controller chip.

So the presence of a T6A39 implies that the controller chip is a T6963C and therefore a replacement display with a T6963C should also work. It doesn't prove it 100% though. Before buying a new display, examine the old one to see if you can find the T6963C.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
