  • Stripping Tweed Cabinet

Some time ago I had a guy(Bruce @ Memphis Amps) build me a Tweed Pro cabinet. Since then, Ive been getting into doing my own cabinets and finishing them with a method that I like better.

Ive already removed the original tweed from the cabinet, now I need to remove the original glue. I have no idea what he used, but I was able to pull the tweed off fairly easily. My guess would be "tolex glue" or wallpaper paste of some sort. Either way, any suggestions on stripping this glue?

He didn't likely use wallpaper paste. Try naphtha with 4 O steel wool. If that doesn't work you may need something professional but that should do it.
