  • Bugera 333XL Channel Switching problem

    Hello,
The Channel switching on my Bugera is randomly failing.
When I swicth to channel 2 or 3 (with or without the footswitch plugged in) it switches to the channel for an instant then it goes right back to the clean channel.
Somtimes it does this as soon as I turn the amp on (it does this with the amp in Stand By too) so I don't think it can be a heat issue, somtimes it may take an hour before it happens but it will also randomly work a few times even after it has failed.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ray

Pretty much all popular amps use mechanical relays, LDRs, or FET switching.
Your description reminds me of mechanical relays.
The contacts wear out or slowly burn out. Cleaning is futile. You need new relays.
It's great to install sockets, like Hi Rel gold plated machine pin type, so you can unplug / plug in new relays.
OR it could just be bad solder connections too. But probably relays...

      Thanks for the information.

I took the amp to a repair shop(not the first time with this amp!).
The tech ordered a new Digital module board from Bugera.
He has it under test right now. I will update when I get more info.
      Thanks for your responce

I know it is a old thread but there are a few heatsinks inside and others report that when it overheats the amp can cut out but then resets itself and when you hit the CLEAN channel it works. If you then try the Crunch or lead channel it will again overheat and reset. Requires some upgraded part and bigger heatsink.
