  • magnatone 260 vibrato in fender super 5D4

    Hi all,
I've recently built a fender super 5d4 with vibrato circuit from Magnatone 260. I wasn't sure how to connect the output from vibrato to the PI. I tried few logical (to me ) points, but the amp squealed or buzzed loudly, so I settled with this circuit

    - the amp doesn't squeal, sounds good, but the stock 5D4 circuit (without vibrato, it only takes disconnecting few wires to make it stock 5D4) sounds much fuller and bigger. I guess there must be a better way of connecting these two circuits, I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.
here are the stock schematics for maggie 260 and fender 5D4:

What do you mean by "fuller and bigger"? More bass? More gain? More high end?

I see a big voltage divider (10M/270K) at the output of the Vibrato circuit in your amp. The original fed the dry signal in where you have the 270K grounded. Also, you have two gain stages before the vibrato circuit where the Magnatone only had one. These things must surely change the tone. Also you have direct coupled the Vibrato circuit to the second gain stage. Are the DC levels right?

WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
