  • JJ 5Y3?

I've noticed that Antique Electronics Supply is now selling a 5Y3 made by JJ. Has anyone tried one of these? If so, is it more like a NOS 5Y3 than the Sovtek 5Y3?

I would hope that the JJ is better than the Sovtek.
I don't know what Sovtek is doing wrong, but their 5Y3 tubes are very inconsistent.
I have opted for NOS tubes.

From what I "heard" the JJ is a REAL 5Y3. Whatever that means. hearsay at this point but maybe it's true.

Here's some wiki on the Sovtek. Again, it's Wiki, not 100% reliable.

Using one in my Victoria Ivy League. I have an old Westinghouse 5Y3 too and can't hear any difference between the two. Voltages all measure the same as well.

Trouble with the JJ's, they could crap out at any time. .... Used American 5Y3 tube on Ebay would be a good option...

As cheap as NOS 5Y3's can be had, why take the chance? I recently bought a lot of 8 RCA's, new in boxes, for like $30-40.
