  • #78 O-rings to make pedal knobs harder to turn

I've been using these o-rings under the knobs of most of my FX pedals on the pots with 1/4" shafts. I know some people like to spin the knobs freely but I want the knobs to stay where I set them- especially when I just throw the pedals in a bag to go to a gig. The o-rings do put some pressure on the control shaft so it is possible for them to damage the pot. I have put them on amp controls as well. Oh yeah- they only well work with knobs with set screws.

    Here are the specs:
    #78 o-ring
    7/16" O.D. x 1/4" I.D. x 3/32"
    Danco #96715
    UPC #3715596715
~$1.80 for a package of 10 at Home Depot

I just ordered 5 packs from McMaster-Carr. I had to call to get the shipping charge to California (~$6) since I could find it nowhere on the site nor was it specified when I made the order. Their on-line order interface is very dated- they don't even have carts!

      Thanks for the tip!

McMaster Carr still has no 800 telephone number! But they stock a TON of stuff, more than 4 times more than a typical Home Depot I believe!
