I just a dropped in to Magnetic components today, thought I'd pass along some info...
I work literally across the street, and finally decided to pop my head in since I need some trannies for a Vibrolux project. I hung out with the engineer for about and hour...he's been there 35 years.
Anyway, they were the OEM for Valco when they were here in Chicago up until the operations were sold to Harmony/Kay in the late 60's, and manufacturing went to Japan.
They use the SAME equipment, and the SAME techniques, by many of the SAME people to make the transformers today as the original amps...pretty amazing.
Place was like 95F inside, and smelled like dog crap...still was cool though.
I'm having them wind me a couple of custom jobbies, but they still have all the original prints for the old amps...and can make up just about anything...
