there is no room in its present form under the cover for any isolating or shielding.
I put a bigger cap on the bridge.
That helped but it is still a bit bright.
Got some other things to do, but when I get back to it I may tear it down and put a thin metal divider between the two coils.
If I rewind it I will wind it with 44 Gauge.
Also I'm wondering if by having one coil a bit taller if that does a bit of out of phasing.
It's an interesting design, I'm not through messing with it.
I encourage others to help on perfecting it.
And, if you do, please share your results.
    Thanks,
    T

I have wound stacks with & without a ferrous plate between the coils & without my extech at the time I did not notice much of a difference in tone or noise ....but I did not try it with high gain

I will try messing some more with it when I get time.
For Now I took it out and put my 8k overwound SC in there.
It rocks, I forgot how good it sounded, it had been in a box for a while.

Stack vs real thing ,the real thing wins hands down
but they do well in certain applications like a hot strat bridge pup

I was thinking of doing something like the above, but create the magnetic loop using magnetic foil stuck onto both sides of the bobbin piece in the middle of the stack.

with a litlle bit of trimming and work You could do that with 2 humbucker bobbins.
Use the color of bobbin you want and not use a cover.

I would think that it's be a bit hard to nail the SC sound since you can only put so much 42 on one of those things. Not that you couldnt do it with 43 or 44; just would take more experimentation unless you already knew what to expect. What would you use for the poles? Use slug bobbins and some fat A5 rods? Interested to see how it would unfold. If you could find an A5 blade that magnetized through-thickness (as opposed to through-width) you could just use the slugs and put the magnet right in the middle of the whole contraption. I dont think the poles can be that close to each other in alnico though; I vaguely recall something about how it would just demagnetize itself much faster than it would deteriorate naturally(?) I bet you could find a ceramic-8 one though; and definitely a neo! THAT'd be something else! Just wind it to a high DCR with some 44. This brain's goin a mile a minute!

                    Rob you missed the concept.
                    On 2 bobbins stacked.
What I did was put the divider between forbon.
That makes 2- 1/4inch inch bobbins.
A humbucker slug bobbin takes a .187" slug.
a .187" magnet will go right through it
So you slide the magnet through the 2 bobbins stacked.
Will make a great test setup.
I'm back to trying to change things tonally.
I've ruled out 42 gauge, and next will try the 44 gauge to make the tone darker.
With the 2 humbucker test bobbins it will be easy to try the shield between them and try different shielding on the coils.

I understood completely, I just didnt know what size the bucker-bobbin-slug-holes were.

Jump in and build one, and you can help me on the fine tuning!
                        All partcipants welcome!

You gonna send me a set of .75" A5 rods?

                            No!
You can buy the .781s like I did.
Use the 710s, it would just be shorter.
Make it some other way, be inventive!
I know how some of you guys do.
Watch Quietly from the sidelines and copy when the project is finished and perfected.
I may do like some ohters, and not really tell you the particulars how I did it!

I'm in. And I already built my bobbin. I macked it like a pro; for a first time stacked bobbin, anyway. It's pretty damn good. I just used what I had on hand. I could do better with nicer parts, but hey - whatever works! Maybe I will post finished pictures later after it is wound.

                                Sounds good.
                                We need pictures.
                                Try using 44 Gauge wire.
