Like steve says, just drag from the address link bar to the address toolbar.
If you have already loaded Firefox the Bookmarks Toolbar works great. But clicking an icon on your desktop will load your browser with the MEF page open (yes, I use the same abbreviation. )

To keep my Bookmarks Toolbar from getting too unwieldy I only add the links that I expect to use regularly. I save the other ones to the Bookmarks Menu where there is no need to abbreviate the name. Unfortunately I came up with that strategy after I had already add 150+ links to the Bookmarks Toolbar (you click on the double chevron >> to access the rest of the Toolbar links and you can drag them up or down to rearrange them.)

FWIW on my Android tablets there is an option to save a Bookmark to your home screen.

P.S. You can drag the icon on the left side of the URL address bar to a Microsoft Word or WordPad document to create a link. That trick works with a lot of other programs as well.
