  • 1972 Peavey 400 series power module - I'm in over my head

    Hi everyone.

I need help with my peavey. I seem to have a burned out driver transistor and a number of burned out resistors. I have a similar peavey model that I hope I could harvest for parts. The donor is a peavey 240 standard. I need your help finding the right wiring diagram and figuring out if a transistor transplant is even a possibility. I will include pics ASAP.Click image for larger version

Forgot to mention that the pa-400 powers on and even outputs a weak cracky signal at this point. I am hopeful, or maybe just completely ignorant, i don't know which

Not sure if that is an A or a B Pa 400.

It appears that your negative side driver got a little hot.

I would check the output transistors for shorts.

For sure check the negative side.

Also check the 0.33 cement resistors for any that may be open circuit.

The photo of the burned board is upside down. The resistors burned and the smoke has risen up to the driver transistor. The driver may be dead, but i don't think it was the source of the fire.

Clean up the board and assess the damages with a meter, not your eyes.
