I made my own pickup, I wound both coils counterclockwise. One coil is 6.50k resistance, the other one 5.14k. Problem I am having is, when I connect the leads and wire it all together to check resistance, the resistance is cut to 1/4 total value which I am guessing means it is wound parallel. What is going on with this? What did I do wrong? No matter what combination I wire it in, if I wire them together, resistance is always 1/4 total value.

Assuming its a humbucker you wind both coils the same direction (you don't need to wind one CCW & one CW) BUT THE WILL WORK as you have them wound .
Wire the finish end of one coil the the start of of the other
then one end goes grounded to the plate the other is the hot"UP here in the Canada we shoot things we don't understand" -
He said that both coils are wound CCW.
So you need to wire the finish leads together.
Then take a ohm meter, and read start lead to start lead, and you should read 11.6k.
That is if you have the finish leads tied togheter.
Make sure you have the range set correctly on your Multimeter.

You are tieing both sets of leads together, or in parallel.
You only want to tie the finish leads together, (B) to (C).
In this diagram read start to start, which is red (A) to green (D).
That will be in Series.
