  • Measurement between the flats

    Does anyone have specs?
    I've found .436 or .450 for strats
    .5 for tele neck
    .467 for tele bridge

    Are those correct?
What about Jag Jazz and mustangs?

    Thanks!

I just rewound a mustang bass, and it was .500" between the flats.
It had those 1 inch long magnets that were a whopping 1700 gauss.
On the rest, sounds like Your in the ball park.
On strat coils I experimented with different heights.
Less height as a rule gives fatter, taller means brighter.
I used to do taller on the neck, and less on the bridge, and middle in between.
Now I just do them all around the .430-.435"
On Teles country players that like twang I make them tall.
    Blues players a bit shorter.
Experiment with it, you can come up with all kinds of combinations.
On other pickups, Seymour Duncan usually gives dimensions of all their pickups.
I've looked at those to get ideas.

Mustang guitar pickups were the same as Strat pickups, but with unstaggered poles.

Jazzmasters are very squat like a P bass pickup.

I suppose I was already on the right track, I was just wondering what the standards are. I know I can adjust that to my liking but it's always good to have the tried and true method/measurement down first.
