Crybaby modded - vol boost

I modded a crybaby to have true bypass and put in a yellow fasel. I kept the on board buffer. The pedal works great except for the volume boost in effect mode. I get the sweep from bass to treble and the wha sound but the effect is boosted in volume. I use a DS-1 before the wha. To my ears it sounds like the distortion is gone when I use the wha and DS-1. The volume boost I can use but the "loss" of distortion is whats bugging me.
Any one have any ideas whats going on? Thanks.

Is the 'volume boost' apparent with the Cry Baby all by itself.

There where a number of different Cry Baby circuits.
The newer circuit does have a boost transistor.

Can you post a schematic of the one that you have?

Have you tried swapping the pedals?
