  • Altec 342B conversion

I have an Altec 342b in decent shape
    It works
I've recapped most of the filter caps
A previous owner had built a solid state rectifier and the voltages were about 30 vdc too high so i built a new one with a 110 ohm resistor incorporated to simulate the voltage drop on a GZ34 and bring most of the voltages back into line with the schematic. I'm mostly looking for clean sounds so solid state is better.

it has a standard guitar input on one channel already (33k, 1 meg to ground etc) and plugged right into that it sounds great but I want to add a bit of mid scoop prior to the existing preamp 2 band(likely baxandall?) EQ
    here's a schematic http://www.greatplainsaudio.com/vint..._oper_inst.pdf

It's be cool if it were only on one channel (or on a pair of them. I;d like to keep the other two stock (I still have a couple of the input transformers.)

I have a couple other questions but I'll start with this one
    Thanks
Working...
