While looking at parts to build a couple of HB's for the Tele I'm building. I noticed that they range from 49.2mm, 50mm, and 52mm. Do I need to know the string spacing to make the right choice or does it not matter that much? I also noticed that the slugs come in different alloy's such as 1018, 1215. What's the difference?

If you are using a tele bridge, best bet is 50mm neck and 52mm bridge. 49.2neck/50bridge is tuneomatic bridge spacing.

Thanks for the reply Bryan. Now I can order the parts.

Any info on the slug alloys?

There are a number of threads on here about the tonal differences. Typically I use 1018s, and sometimes 1022 for bridge pickups if somebody wants something with extra bite. 1010s are sometimes used, but I thought they came out pretty dull. 1215 is I believe the closest to vintage alloys. I haven't really A/B'ed them enough to give you a definitive answer, but a forum search will give you lots of opinions.
