  • Wiring P90 using 2 cond w./shielded ground...

I'd like to wire-up a P90 using shielded 2 conductor 28 AWG w./ ground- like the 4 conducutor shielded wire used for humbuckers minus two conductors. Does anybody have any sources for this? The closest I could find was 2 cond w./ ground but 20 AWG.

wow, interesting, I'm subscribing this thread.
I didn't imagine someone would make pickups with 28 AWG

AllParts has the 2-conductor + shield. Their p/n GW 0834-000. It has a foil shield but no drain wire...never quite understood that

Biarnel, I think he's talking about the hookup wire, not the coil wire.

          Yes the hook-up wire

Thanks Stan, I'll check out Allparts.

If you can't get the 2, you could just use 4-conductor and just clip the ends off two of the leads.

Are you sure? How do you ground the shield?
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

                Based on the Allparts picture

its hard to tell about the ground and it doesn't mention the AWG for the leads. I might have to go with Zhang's suggestion, however I would really like to do it right and find the correct AWG 2 conductor + ground. This stuff is never simple, no matter how simple it seems it should be...

You can get it from Mouser. I wrote all the part numbers down in my last catalog from them, and then I threw the catalog out when I new one came the other day... oops.

I need to order wire soon so I need to go through the catalog again.

                  I'll post the info here.

That's what I asked AllParts. They said they should be getting some in with the drain sometimes this year. Seems to me the stuff that I used to get from them had the bare wire but they said it never did. Oh, and the photo in their catalog is wrong. It is actually black with a black lead and a white lead..and a blue foil shield.

I usually just do as Zhangliqun said and use 4-cond and clip the unused leads.

I got the same response from Allparts, but...

                      found this: http://www.smarthome.com/84801.html

seems like it would work, its 22 AWG, but I think I'll try using the fender style brass eyelets where the P90 leads run and just connect them that way.
