converting 6sc7 amp to use 6sl7

I built a 5c3 deluxe out of an old phonograph 5y3, 2x6v6, 2 x 6sc7 amplifier. I cascaded a 6sl7 at the front end of the amp. I used a dual gang 1 meg pot to control the gain. Man this sucker gets loud and dirty.

Sorry Baddog, I haven''t been keeping up with this thread. The cathode resistor for v1 is a 2.2k with a 22uf bypass cap. I think I just copied those values from a Fender schem. that used 6sc7's. V2 still has the original 1.8k. So far I've had 6sc7, 6sn7, 6sl7 and I made adapters and plugged in 12AX7's. I think I like the 12AX7's the best, But these were all with the same cathode resistors, so each tube may not have been operating at it's best. I really don't have a clue how to calculate what that resistor should be. If anyone can point me to some info on that subject, I'd appreciate it.
Mine was a record player too. Allied Knight 5y3, 3-6sc7, and 2-6L6. No cascading gain, but gets really crunchy if turned up loud enough.
