  • Bugera 6260 Pre-Infinium Burned resistor

    Any help greatly appreciated
    I ran across a burned resistor on this 6260 and trying to replace, Not looking for entire schematic just a partial to get resistor identified and replaced.
    Also any stateside sources for purchasing these resistors.

    What circuit are you dealing with?

    Power Amp?

    Preamp?

    What is the resistor connected to?

    A Pic sure would help.

      Hello Jazz, Thanks for response and the 6262 schematic, will take a look and compare the two.

      As for the circuit.

      located on Pre Amp Board
      R57

      3k9 stamped on board

      Resistor is labeled. 5W3K97 possibly 5 watt 3.9k value
      this is a ceramic axial type, with both leads out one end. "I've never seen one like this myself"

        sure its not R63? That one would be expected to be something beefy like 5w 3.9k. Maybe a bad tube burned it, definitely test them all.

          Hello tedmich , yes that's the one which has v3+,v2+,v1+ to the right of it.

          I plan to replace the stock power tubes with JJ6L6GC's

          Any ideas on where I might find one of those resistors here in US.

              I appreciate that, I've placed an order for a few, Going to replace the Stock 6L6's as well, I hope to report back with some good news and add to the 6260 knowledge base here on the forum. :-)

                Got the resistor from Mouser and replaced the defective one. The good news is the Amp is working but noticed that both the Resistor we replaced and a Cap next to it get very HOT... The cap is C34 rated at 100uf 500v. On a side note pulled the Power tubes with the same results on these two components heating up.

                Should I go ahead and replace this C34 capacitor. do you have a part number for this?

                  Uhm, R63 'feeds' the preamp tubes.

                  Pull the preamp tubes.

                  You should measure the voltage on either end of R63, before & after the preamp tubes are removed.

                  If C34 is bad try measuring the Vac ripple across it.
                  A high reading will indicate that it's bad.

                  Is C34 an 'axial' capacitor?

                    The Capacitor tested good, Not sure if it's normal for these 2 components to get hot with the tubes pulled.
                    I suppose I could run the amp at half throttle by pulling the outer tubes.
                    At any rate, going to keep checking components.

                      It's the preamp tubes you need to be pulling, like Jazz mentioned above. The power tubes have nothing to do with these components.

                        Pulled the Preamps also, With all the tubes pulled that resistor heats up. I had the Amp on for less than 2 mins for this to occur.

                          So how much ripple (Volts AC) is on the capacitor?

                          If there is a lot, then it's bad.
