  • Typical Push-pull plate power dissipation

If you were to use the worst-case values I suspect 99% of guitar amps wouldn't make the grade wrt to output stage plate dissipation.

It's straightforward enough to determine the plate dissipation for a signal of a well defined wave shape and amplitude, but what is best practice for real signals? Would the use a certain crest factor be best? Should we assume the signal is clipped by the preamp?

What do you guys consider to the model typical signal?
Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.
