  • Crate GTX65 Bad Input Connection

    Hello everyone, first post here

This question has probably been asked and answered many times here. But I have a Crate GTX65, that must have a car battery sit ontop of a very taut 1/4" cable. I've grown tired of this issue. And lugging around an old car battery

What methods would I go about repairing this so I can play at loud volumes without the connection going out? It's annoying for myself and others that I jam with. I have moderate soldering skill

    Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to take the chassis out & inspect the input jack solder connections.

If not that, then you need to replace the jack.

I just replaced the input jack on my newly aquired Crate FXT65 and that fixed the input ugliness that was going on. But it is now a problem with the clean channel loss of output. It works but quietly, not the proper output of a 65 watt amp. I could hit the top of the amp and it would come back and then gone again. No problem with the overdrive section, just the clean. I'm gonna start a thread and see if I can get some help. Don't want to hijack this thread.
