INCOMING! Nighthawk DST AC1900 Wireless-AC Gigabit Router (Black) w/DST Adapter

The refurbished AC1750 class router I got maybe 18 months ago keeps acting up so I finally found what I hope to be a good upgrade. The problem is that it keeps cutting out on whichever mode it is currently broadcasting (it's dual band so when the 2.4Ghz band cuts out I connect to the 5Ghz one and vice versa.) I suspect that one of the chips overheats...

It used to drop the active band maybe a few times a day but that has turned into once every 5 or 10 minutes when using a lot of bandwidth. It happens with all of my tablets so I know that the problem is with the modem.

Ta dah! Here is my soon-to-be new modem for $109.99 (that is like $100 in California currency since our sales tax is over 9%.) Still selling for $250 at Best Buy it is packaged with a matched range extender...

NOTE: What looks like a refrigerator Transformer bot with its arms raised in victory is in fact the DST (Dead Spot Terminator) range extender.

Early in our "real" internet connection days, I had trouble getting online during hot afternoons. I finally decided the router was at fault, and installed a fan from a microwave to blow over it, it worked, but the routers would only last a couple of years.
When my provider came by to do some upgrades, he installed one of their routers, I haven't had a problem since!

Router arrived Monday. I tried hooking it up Wednesday night and although PC and mobile devices connected to it, it was not connecting to internet... unable to get into router setup so far with the supplied www.routerlogon.net address. I need to hook it back up and try 192.168.1.1 to see if that works. Otherwise it is going back for a full refund...

Hooray! Typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar got me into the router setup program which had a cool "fix me!" button (my name for it) that got everything working perfectly.

The dearly departed router was mfg refurbished with a problem that would not show up on a cursory test. When the router started to overheat the Chrome window would load very slowly and often post a "not connected" message. I'd switch from the 2.4mhz channel to the 5mhz one (or vice versa) and everything would work okay for awhile.

The straw that broke the camel's back was having that crap screw up recordings of streaming blues radio shows on KPFA and KHUM. "Now that is getting personal!"

I may take the old router apart and possibly add a heat sink to the CPU...

Glad to hear that you got in to the router.

192.168.1.1 is the 'standard' way in.

That link: http://www.routerlogon.net/ : was goofy.
