  • handheld tension gauge from mojo and stewmac

what do you guys think of the tension gauge from stewmac well rebranding from a mojo project. i've wound over a 100 pickups for a boutique guitar maker and never had any issues with finger tip tension. I would love to hear what you guys thinks, thanks

I would think that it would be more consistent than random tension.

You mean this thing? Mojotone Hand Guided Tensioner | stewmac.com
I don't like the steel bar the the wire passes over at a 90º angle. It would be much better if it were something smooth and slippery like teflon. This is a device for folks who have no experience, no skill, no imagination and too much money. Spending $60 on this would be like like selling a 5 year-old a device to tie his shoes for $500. After a week he would figure it out on his own. A pickup maker would figure out that a CNC winder is the only way to make any kind of a respectable living without going completely nuts watching wire wrap around coils for 8 hours a day.
At the very least put the thing on a pivot so you don't actually have to hold it in your hand, you can just push it back and forth.
