  • Recommend book on IC

Does a good book exist on IC based amplifier circuits such as those implementing STK and TDA series IC chips.
Whether test/repair or design focused, anything might be helpful. I can find nothing dedicated to solid state amplification outside of BPJ and MOSFET based books.
    Thanks!

The whole point of the TDA series is they are self-contained power amps. They need power supply and ground connections, a signal input and connection to a load. The data sheet gives you all the data you need, and usually a sample circuit to use. You will find the circuits in the amps to often be the same as the data sheet example.

The STKs can be complete amps or they can be just output transistor arrays, depends on the type, again, the data sheet tells you what is inside.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Some manufacturers have pretty good technical resources. I signed up to Texas Instruments a few years ago and they have lots of technical documentation, design briefs and access to the TI technical teams. They want to sell chips, so have a strong interest in promoting design ideas and giving help. Chip amps move on so rapidly that books quickly become dated; many chips appear on the market and are quickly flagged as 'not recommended for new designs', or the implementation is changed from the original v1.0 datasheet to reflect reliability or stability issues.

ST has a list of amplifier designs using their chips and if studied along with the relevant datasheet gives a good insight into building amps. In reality, most of these amps only need a few peripheral components and a power supply. The main decisions come down to whether you want to enable additional functions such as muting, switchable bridging, etc.

Like they said, all the info you need is in the data sheet application notes.

For guitar-amp specific applications, plenty of designs and analysis can be found online.
