Has anyone restored the front panel of a Gibson amplifier?
I have a 30RVT that seems complete but like most amps of that vintage the front panel is pitted and has some rust and discoloration.
Cleaning gets the surface issues off, but aside from stripping the chassis, creating a mask for the lettering, rechroming the front panel, and then restoring the lettering, has anyone tried creating a thin overlay or some other way to "restore" the front panel.
Years ago I was able to redo one with decal overlays and clear coat
Almost every amplifier with a chromed front panel I have every seen (Gibson, Silvertone, Standel, etc.) has had the same issues.
Thanks
Michael
