  • Am I crazy?

Or are there no new production drop in replacement octal sockets that fit in vintage fenders??
It seems that the ones which have the same mounting hole dimensions have a base diameter that is too large. Yet, any of the ones I dig up (ie - surplus Cinch octal sockets) have the same base diameter, yet the mounting holes do not line up.
    Anyone else run into this?

Oh, I should add that New Sensor does make a ceramic that fits, but it's complete garbage. The terminals take solder about as well as RTV silicone.
If I have a 50% chance of guessing the right answer, I guess wrong 80% of the time.

I was just hoping to find an actual 1-for-1 replacement. I have a step drill that has a max diameter of 1.125" if I need it. But, time is money, so trying to do my do diligence in the interest of being efficient.

Hoffman has them. I just picked up some for a vintage Marshall with 1" chassis hole.

It's weird, because it WAS working fine.....

Parts Express has what appears to be the same socket on sale for 95 cents. They do have a $6.95 shipping charge though, unless your order totals $100 or more, in which case it's free.

Looking at Hoffman's tube socket page, it has the best descriptions of the socket mounts and measurements I've seen.
