OK so after carefully pulling apart the pot I discovered nothing surprising inside, everything was intact, not worn out and surprisingly solid. I gave it a few gentle swabs of isopropyl alcohol across the carbon surface and the sweeper, followed by another swabbing with some Servisol Super 10 to further clean and lubricate. The sweeper metal was a little tarnished, so I gave that and extra firm clean with a pencil eraser.

It went back together nice and tightly and to my surprise it works perfectly, you could say it's as good as new, without a single pop, crackle or hiss!

So ends my search for a pot, for now, although I have another one coming next week which might not treat me as well, we'll see!

I have another DRP-1, it had another poorly working line input pot, I repeated the process and now it's working like new.
