    Res and Presence are both feedback controls from the output. SO if your noise comes out the speaker, then those controls are likely to affect it.

    Feedback path could be involved.

    I might short ACROSS R53 in phase inverter. Not to ground, but end to end. Does that kill the noise? Hell, try that with R50.
    Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

      Shorting across r53 - no change
      Shorting across r50 - amp is quiet, no crackle or pops

      I'd like to mention again that R50 has previously been replaced.

        Yes, and I remind you I said this:

        I hope you realize when I suggest doing something to a particular resistor, while it is possible the resistor itself is bad, my purpose is to isolate the source of the noise.
        We just determined the noise is indeed coming in through the signal path
        Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

          yes, I thought it would be important to mention it had been swapped out so we could rule out a faulty component. I don't want to leave any information out, thats all
