  • Snarling Dogs Wah , sometimes it pays to just shotgun a section

Mold Spore wah with ring modulator pedal came to me with what sounded like a noise gate cutting out the ring modulator prematurely after it had been on for a minute or so. First I swapped out the MAX1040 chip, but this didn't help. Not wanting to take this thing apart 40 times, I just ordered up the parts to the whole gate section, C16, IC4, D6 - 9, OC1, and C26, and replaced them all at once. And I'm glad I did because it fixed the problem. About $15 in parts/shipping, and since the MAX1040 wasn't bad, the customer now has a spare. He's happy, and it's off my bench. win/win.
