  • Kay 703 isolation transformer question

Does this amp need an isolation transformer? Looking like it does with the heaters on the primary of the transformer for the rectifier plate. Is there a way of using this transformer as the iso and wire in the heaters on the secondary?

    Thanks pete

Even though only the filaments are tied directly to the AC line, it's still potentially dangerous because it's not totally isolated. I'd add an isolation transformer, fuse, and grounded AC cord. Aside from other issues, I doubt the existing transformer is built to handle the additional heater current. Or, you could add an additional transformer for heaters only.
